Handbags have never been as popular an accessory as they have become in recent years. In the past six years, handbag purchases in the U.S. increased 46% to 3.5 million units.
This high level of market growth is predicted to continue, with another 25% rise in sales forecast by 2011, according to the Mintel Group, a global supplier of consumer, media and market research.
To meet the increasing demands of consumers and the retail buyers who supply them, handbags and accessories will be featured in one convenient location at the upcoming WSA Show in Las Vegas.
The WSA Show is the world’s largest footwear and accessories marketplace with more than 37,000 participants expected at the fourth largest trade show in the U.S.
New luxury handbag designers are also exhibiting for the first time at The Collections at WSA, the luxury show-within-a-show that occurs simultaneously with The WSA Show at The Venetian Hotel and Resort Casino.
According to Diane Stone, chief operating officer of The WSA Show, the enhanced emphasis on handbags “is appropriate given the growth in this sector of the market because major tradeshows like ours both make markets and reflect the trends in them."
