Strong brands need the support of strong culture: Secretary-general of Shanghai International Fashion Federation Wang Xinyuan


Once was regarded as the favorite son of designs, Wang Xinyuan began to dedicate to the development of fashion industry in China. Wang Xinyuan has a deep and unique understanding on China’s brands and the cultural background. He stated that Chinese culture no longer processed the leading position or decision-making power in the world, which was the key reason that Chinese brands or Chinese fashion did not hold great influence in the world.

Chinese culture focus on “culture of the human”, while European culture focus on “culture of nature”. Chinese human-based culture and European natural culture once posses equal position in the world. With the integration of different cultures, people turn to emphasize the integration of human and nature. However, the “culture of the nature ”possesses a leading position. Modern Chinese culture has lost support in certain aspect.

 However, Chinese culture does not fall behind of lag behind the European culture. Chinese artists have created the so-call cubism art, e.g., four-dimension perspective.

Talking about fashion, people have been always paying great attention to the essence and features of Chinese culture. Many foreign designers would like to learn from Chinese factors and specialties and apply to their designs. The West is always curious about and looking forward to the mystery of Chinese culture; the Europe’s mad of Chinese furniture at the beginning of last century is one example. Chinese culture is ancient and but still maintains strong vitality.

In his analyses on Chinese brand, John Galliano stated that many Chinese fashion and brands keep in following others, but never know how to present Chinese cultural fashion and brands unable to enter the international market. In addition, Chinese fashion industry started later than others. The designers are still looking for their way s to success, which needs the great support of Chinese culture.

Chinese economy develops fast recently. China wins great reputation in the world. However, Chinese culture does not possess a strong position.

The Chinese brands, participated in Milan Fashion Week China Day, are full of national features. “It does not mean the we should take the historical long gown, Chinese-style unlined jacket or cheong-sam to the big show. Instead, we should present our original designs with national features. The key of design lies in how to make picture of Chinese culture. ”Wang Xinyuan said. Culture is the great support of a brand. We will bring out culture together with out brands to the world. Acting as the secretary-general of Shanghai International Fashion Federation and technology principal of Milan Fashion Week China Day, Wang Xinyuan will make sure that those eight brands possess Chinese specialities.”I truly agree that only when it belongs to the people does it belong to the world.”

The eight enterprises willl present their brands in Milan Fashion Week China Day. They will atake the finished and mature products to the world. They represent the economic strength and fashion taste of China. They will not be regarded as works of art. It is known that, within the eight enterprises, two enterprises will present in the way of special and independent shows, while the other six enterprises will join with each other for one great show.

Wang Xinyuan stated that the Milan Fashion Week China Day has won great support from the government of China. It is a big issue for the whole nation entering the world.

He also emphasized that Chinese brands need to be enjoyed by the whole world. Chinese brand s are walking the first step towards the world. We will show our strength to the world. With the great efforts of many brands, Shanghai International Fashion Federation and the related bureaus. We are very confident that we will perform a perfect show in Milan Fashion Week China Day. China is walking steadily nowadays, with constant explorations and attempts. It is the great time for usto show Chinese culture and Chinese brands to the world.
