HONG KONG, June 19 -- The Hong Kong Jewelry and Watch fair and the Asia's Fashion Jewelry and Accessories Fair, two of the most professional and international fairs of their kind in Asia, opened concurrently in Hong Kong Thursday.
It is the first two major international trade shows held in Hong Kong since the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in March.
Officiating at the opening ceremony, Hong Kong Financial Secretary Antony Leung said these fairs at this time speak loud and clear that Hong Kong is again a safe city to visit and do business with.
However, Leung also stressed that the Hong Kong government will not let down guard on the disease and will also take proactive steps to revive the economy.
Hong Kong officials reported zero SARS infection for eighth consecutive day Thursday. It is also the 35th day in a row on which the number of case has fallen below five since May 16.
